Looking ahead to 2021

On this New Year's Day 2021, I look back on the prior year and reflect on so many blessings amid all of the challenges we faced during this pandemic year.
  • We enjoyed another family trip to Disney for Taylor's Cheer Nationals in February
  • For Spring Break, we had planned a college visit tour to Tuscaloosa, Knoxville and Lexington, but this was shortened to include only visits to AL and KY as COVID-19 began to shut down the word as we know it.
  • Our planned Memorial Day wknd trip to Austin for Emily's graduation from UT Pharmacy school was cancelled, but we still managed to celebrate with them as we made a surprise trip to Dallas for the virtual graduation ceremonies, and we also surprised my Mom by our visit as she would soon be undergoing 18 weeks of chemo treatments for ovarian cancer.
  • In June, I was promoted to the role of Regional Research Director as I began handling research for our Tulsa stations in addition to Memphis.  In August, Cindy was promoted as well.
  • In July, the 4 of us enjoyed a family beach trip to Perdido Key; it was the first time Taylor has been able to join us for a beach trip in 3 years.
  • For Fall Break, part 2 of our college visit tour began with a visit to Charleston SC, before spending the next 6 days driving town to town visiting: Columbia, Auburn, Athens, Knoxville, Clemson, and Baton Rouge.
  • At the end of October we celebrated my mom's cancer-free diagnosis, hallelujah!  And, both girls overcame bouts with COVID in late October with only mild symptoms as Cindy and I were able to avoid it.
  • Christmas was full of surprises (new car for Nicole; Taylor's UT-Knox reveal) as we enjoyed a nice visit from my parents.  We also surprised the girls with a family trip to AZ (Grand Canyon, Sedona, Scottsdale) this week.
Looking ahead to 2021, I'm looking forward to spending another year reading thru the Bible with the The Bible Recap , using the OT and NT study guide questions as a supplement this year along with the daily journal.  This will mark the 5th time I've read thru the Bible.
My first time was 10 years ago in 2010 when I completed the One Year Chronological Bible.
In 2012-2013, I read thru the Bible at a bit slower pace, using a 2 year reading plan.
In 2016, I read thru the Bible following the Bible Project's plan using their video summaries of each book as guide.
In 2020, I discovered the Bible Recap plan and enjoyed listening to the daily podcasts with Tara Leigh Cobble.  Highly recommend this plan to anyone looking grow in their walk with Jesus.  I'm looking forward to spending even more time in God's Word this coming year with this plan and increasing my time journaling as well.
